Steere’s innovative and highly skilled team possesses many years of experience in structural and civil engineering. At Steere, we are committed to maintaining a culture of spirited comradery, mentoring, and fellowship with team members ranging from interns to senior level all working together each and every day. All the while, we strive to continue to advance talented women and minorities in engineering by providing opportunities for growth and working together on challenging and innovative projects.
STEERE’S HISTORY
Steere Engineering was founded in 2010 by Patricia Steere. After graduating with her Masters’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1981, Patty got right to work in the industry starting out her engineering career with nuclear power plants and then switching to bridges. She went on to manage one of Rhode Island’s largest bridge projects, the Providence River Bridge, also known as the IWAY. This was the first network arch bridge in the United States.
As she learned more about the industry while working for other firms, Patty realized that with her knowledge and skill set, she could start a small firm of her own. After 11 years of successfully building and running the business, Patty is now retired. The ownership transition was a thoughtful process extending over a few years.
Engineers at Steere are professionally licensed in multiple states including Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Rhode Island, and Maine.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
Steere Engineering started out with one employee and now employs a growing staff of more than 25 people. Steere has one of the largest bridge departments in the state of Rhode Island and successfully offers professional engineering services throughout New England. Our engineers have exhibited remarkable growth and adeptly navigated the dynamic industry landscape, consistently enhancing our knowledge and expertise.
Steere Engineering is a Women-owned Business Enterprise (WBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), certified in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York (DBE).
OWNERSHIP
The ownership team is Alison Steere, Martin Pierce, Merve Iplikcioglu Kirtan and Michael Adams. They bring a diverse background, depth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to Steere Engineering.
