Rhode Island Statewide bridge inspections

Steere Engineers have performed over 500 bridge inspections throughout Rhode Island in accordance with the National Bridge Inventory System (NBIS) standards. Bridge types include steel truss, steel beam/girder, steel box girder, pre-stressed concrete I-beam, T-beam, butted box beams, arches, culverts, and timber bridges, and inspection types include routine, special member, in-depth, fracture critical, and freeze/thaw.

Along with large conventional steel and concrete multi-beam/girder bridges, Steere has also inspected more unique bridges such as historic truss bridges, multi-span timber railroad bridges, large reinforced concrete arches, concrete through-arch, concrete box and stone culverts, and bridges over the Amtrak right-of-way, including electrified routes.

Steere performs inspections and prepares inspection reports in accordance with the FHWA’s National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), the FHWA “Recording and Coding Guides for the Structural Inventory & Appraisal of the Nation’s Bridges”, AASHTO “Manual for Condition Evaluation of Bridges”, and the RIDOT Bridge Inspection Manual.
